Pediatric Dermatology

Does your child have itchy eruption that is recurring? Atopic Dermatitis is becoming more prevalent in children in civilized countries. A theory exists whereby our immune system needs to be challenged and if it is not stimulated enough, it will turn against itself, that is, your own immune system is fighting against you. While the condition often diminish in severity as a child gets older, treatment can be vexing especially in severe cases. We can help counsel and advise parents on how to take care of your child’s skin to alleviate their suffering. Treatment often needs to be complimented by avoidance of exacerbating factors, vigorous applications of moisturizers and emollients, use on bland non-soap cleansers, humidifiers, and lastly, immmunosuppressants and possibly antibiotics as often the skin of atopic can be exacerbated by infection with Staphylococcus aureus.
